I'm A Dad. That's Messed Up.

Isn't he something?

Little Chamomiles (aka Benjamin) was born yesterday afternoon at 2:29 PM. That look on his face in the above photo is right after I told him he'll be raised as a Philly sports fan.

Sorry, buddy, Daddy can't suffer alone anymore!

Congrats, Mr. Davis.

My son was actually born on the morning of June 3, 2001. Known to Philly fans as the day the Sixers beat the Milwaukee Bucks to advance to the NBA Finals. I (naively) thought his championship-less drought would only last about a week...

...and now he's in first grade.

Anyways, good luck maing. Being a Philly fan builds character. It's usually a negative, overbearing character, but still.

Thanks, meech. It's been a crazy weekend so far. Let's hope both of our sons get to celebrate several Philly championships by the time they're in middle school!

Tell him the Eagles landed the #1 free agent the day he was born. He'll think that kind of thing will happen all the time, poor kid.

My daughter was born in 2004, only months before the best football season in recent memory. I thought I'd get a championship to make up for having a kid. Even factoring in the inevitable arrest for drunk and disorderly and public nudity, the Super Bowl win would have cost a lot less. And the Eagles won't ask to use my car.

Oh, and Chamo, you might wanna scrub the red fingernail polish off before your son can, you know, remember things.

Does this mean FOP will be relegated to once-a-month updates?

meech,

Not if I can help it, although the vast majority of upcoming posts will be written in the haze of sleep-deprived delirium... which, come to think of it, should improve their quality.

By the way, that was Mrs. Chamomiles' hand in that photo. At least that's what I'm telling people. (Daddy's got a secret!)

Congrats man! Now if you let him grow up a Cowboy or Giants fan, I'm calling child services.

Congratulations man. We had our first baby back in October, sleep is a distant memory for me at this point.

Congratulations! I love that your wife gave birth while still rocking fire engine red nail polish. She sounds awesome.

Question: Have you strapped your little dude's right arm to his side yet? Gotta start early if you want him to become the next Cole Hamels.

Clare,

Mrs. Chamomiles is straight-up Roxborough, from her always-done nails to her New York & Company wardrobe. It's why I love that lady!

My little dude's right arm was strapped to an IV tube for the first three days of his existence, so I thought I'd cut him a break. For now.

Can he play WR? He looks too short to be a red zone presence...

I couldn't agree more, Shirley. Ben's more of a possession receiver, so watch out, Kevin Curtis!
